Urban art meets whimsical in this Battery Park City apartment. With its unexpected combinations of color and style, New York City's cultural mix is evident in the design's personality. Intense reds, greens, and blues border the bathrooms bright white tiling, while a basin styled sink and sleek sliver faucet turn-up the volume further in this bathroom's unique design.

In the living and dining room areas, the spaciousness is emphasized with oversized windows, light-toned wood flooring, and expertly placed soft-pastels. This New York City apartment's playful style brings it from the level of simple living abode to that of a private art museum.

Looking at the before and after pictures side-by-side, one wonders if MyHome's team employed magic. The original kitchen was quite small, hardly enough room to work in. Adding in the difficulty of working in a generally small New York apartment, all the while keeping to strict building code -- the transformation is absolutely amazing.

The client's dream was to take the small kitchen, expand out by eliminating a closet, and include a home office area in the extension of the room. MyHome delivered that, plus more. A black granite countertop gives elegance to the room, especially in combination with the stock maple cabinetry. Lighting from behind the cabinets' frosted glass doors enhances the room with a soft glow. The client chose a stainless steel backsplash, expressing some creativity of her own. This kitchen's transformation from small and closed to open and elegant is a source of pride, both for MyHome and our client.

88 BLEEKER STREET
NEW YORK, NY

Before

Before

This project was a kitchen and bath renovation in a 1980s building.

The bathroom, a typical 5 by 7 had all the shortcomings of the typical Manhattan bathroom, a shallow tub that was almost useless, terrible lighting, tired materials and a toilet with and oversized tank taking visually way too much space.
The renovation involved replacing the tub by a custom shower. To make the space less confined, we used white Thassos marble across the bathroom, with an custom insert of Italian glass tiles, a frameless glass shower enclosure. Two surface-mounted mirrored medicine cabinets have been ganged side by side to make them look like they were recessed.

Toilet has been changed for a more appropriate sized tank (only 13.5” wide instead of 21”). Vanity made of white Thermofoil has been installed floating, to give a lighter look.

Last but not least, we created an L-shaped sofit with recessed MR16 cans. The whiter light of halogen fixtures enhances the space and the textures variations of the materials.
